Mr. Adam Olander

Welcome to Morehead City Middle School!  I am honored and privileged to lead such a dynamic school with awesome students, teachers, staff and parents.  I truly look forward to meeting and getting to know my new community.  About me personally – I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina, but am proud to call the Crystal Coast my home.  I have worked in the Carteret County School System since 2002 as a math teacher, coach, and administrator.  I have a wonderful wife Catherine and two beautiful children – daughter Molly Mac and son Warner.  I am excited about the great year of learning that is ahead of us and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you or your child.

Mrs. Christy Propst

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Propst taught high school math for a number of years, mostly AP Calculus and Geometry, but also minored in English in college, so she enjoys that too. In addition to teaching, she was a district curriculum coach/specialist before relocating to Carteret County.  She and her family LOVE it here! Since moving, she taught a couple of years at Croatan before moving into administration. She has since been at Beaufort Elementary and Newport Elementary. Thus, moving to MCMS will fill the gap in her knowledge, but will be an adjustment at the same time. Overall, she looks forward to learning the middle school ropes.

Mrs. Propst has two children and a dog named Jagger, who is a beloved Boston Terrier and appropriately named as he is 14 and still rocking like the Stones.

In addition to staying busy with family, she enjoys 5 AM each day!! so that she can get a workout in before the day starts and focus on being mom when the school day ends.
